88-94 chev silverado stereo wiring location?
I have a 1991 silverdo im putting in a aftermarket deck and i pulled out both the little square radio deal and the equalizer. ive figured out the power and can get the deck too turn on and yea i have some extra wires there but they are definatly not the speaker wires need help! i seen a post where someone said they were underneath the steering column and that theres a box up there but im not so sure and also i cant seem to find the antenna wire there must be a trick to finding these wires plz help thanks
The amplifier/tuner pack for this vehicle is located above and to the right of the gas pedal. Start by removing the two screws at the bottom of the small panel under the steering column. Remove the panel. You’ll see the amplifier; it’s a silver box about the size of a paperback book. It rests on top of a bracket that runs front to back, from the firewall to the bottom edge of the dash.
Unplug the two plugs from the bottom of the amplifier. Remove the three screws that hold it in place; holding the bracket to the firewall, one holding the bracket to the dash, and one accessible through the opening created when you removed the plastic panel under the steering column. You can then pull the amplifier down, and pull the plugs out of the top. The top plugs include the antenna, and the plugs with all the power and speaker wiring. A standard GM wire harness will fit these plugs.
You won’t find any useful power or speaker wiring behind the radio control or cassette/EQ; in fact, the wires from those components were the two plugs you disconnected from the bottom of the factory amp.
